Notes from New York

New York in October is the best kind of homework. Three days of showrooms, fabric libraries and quiet, lamplit rooms — each one a reminder that the homes we remember are never the loudest ones.

What stayed with me most was the light. Low lamps on a console, a single sconce on a pale wall, warm wood catching the evening. Before a sofa or a rug is chosen, light decides how a room will feel.

“The best rooms feel collected, not decorated.”

In the fabric library I edited hundreds of samples down to a handful — textured linens, a deep chocolate velvet, one striped cotton that made me smile. Those are the pieces coming home to Miami with us.

Everything we saw comes back to the same idea: a home should hold the things you love, gathered over time. That is the work we do.
